DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS BY THE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS FOUNDATION
THE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS FOUNDATION WILL PROVIDE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, CHILDREN, AND WOMEN AFFECTED BY THE EARTHQUAKE THROUGH 10 SUPPORT CENTERS OPERATING IN THE DISASTER AREA!
The Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG), which has been empowering young people with scholarship and mentorship programs since 2002 and supporting social responsibility projects across Turkey, sprang into action following the earthquake on February 6th. TOG provided support for urgent needs in the disaster area immediately after the earthquake and also contributed to relief efforts by coordinating volunteers and assisting with relief warehouses. Since February 6th, more than 3,000 TOG volunteers participated in relief efforts in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, and Gaziantep. The young volunteers implemented projects aimed at alleviating the negative effects of the earthquake, especially for children and young women.
TOG, aiming for the sustainability of the solidarity initiated by young people who try to give hope to those affected by the disaster, opened 10 Support Centers with the support of its stakeholders!
Solidarity Will Continue with Support Centers
After the earthquake on February 6th, TOG volunteers participated in volunteer activities in the provinces most affected by the destruction, namely Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Malatya. In addition to relief warehouses, TOG volunteers aimed to alleviate the negative effects of the earthquake through projects. The team of the "Would You Be My Student?" project provided tutoring to high school and university preparation students in subjects they needed help with. The team of the "As Far as the Sky Games" project played games with children, conducted various workshops, and performed entertaining experiments to contribute to their recovery process. Through their projects, young people reached over 1,000 children and young people. Anticipating a long recovery process due to the devastating nature of the disaster, the Community Volunteers Foundation began to support those affected by the disaster with its permanent centers to ensure the sustainability of the solidarity initiated by young people.

Supporting Education with the Disaster Scholarship Fund
The Community Volunteers Foundation, which has supported more than 10,000 young people with over 100 scholarship funds so far, aims to contribute to the future dreams of university students affected by the disaster with the Disaster Scholarship Fund established after the earthquake. According to the data of the Turkish Higher Education Council for the 2022-2023 academic year, there are more than 630,000 university students affected by the earthquake. TOG, through its collaborations, is currently supporting the education of over 500 young people.
The Community Volunteers Foundation, which has aimed to empower young people for 21 years, aims not only to support the education but also the social lives of young people in the disaster area. For this reason, young people can benefit from the Disaster Scholarship Fund not only during the school term but also throughout the year. TOG, aiming to reach more young people by expanding the fund, invites everyone who believes in education to contribute to support university students.
