Youth and Participation - Thematic Project Development Workshop

Objective of the Training

The goal of this training is to teach participants the process of developing youth and participation-themed projects in a hands-on way, to guide them in designing projects with high societal impact, and to equip them with skills that will enhance the effectiveness of these projects.

Importance of the Training

Youth are one of the most dynamic and influential forces in social change. Youth and participation-themed projects enable young people to contribute to society and develop active citizenship awareness. Such projects enhance the capacity of young people to create solutions to societal issues while promoting solidarity and interaction. This workshop contributes to building a stronger, more responsible, and effective society by enabling participants to design projects that foster both personal development and social impact.

Training Content

Introduction to Youth and Participation-Themed Projects (Brief Theoretical Information)

  • Definition and societal impact of youth projects
  • The importance of participation-focused projects
  • A brief explanation to help define the project’s purpose and target audience

Project Design Practice

  • Participants will work in small groups to design a youth and participation-themed project
  • Identifying the target audience: Which age group, social group, or issue will the project address?
  • Defining the project’s goals and outcomes

Planning Project Activities

  • Participants will develop activities suitable for their designed projects
  • Developing ideas on how these activities will encourage social participation
  • Creating a timeline for project activities through a hands-on approach

Resources and Partnerships

  • Participants will explore resource and partnership options for their projects
  • Practical work on how to utilize local organizations, social media tools, and volunteers

Project Presentation and Feedback

  • Each group will present their developed project
  • Opportunity to receive feedback from other groups and the trainer to improve the project
  • Suggestions for improving the project idea

Outcomes

  • Participants will gain hands-on knowledge on how to design youth and participation-themed projects.
  • They will develop skills in conducting target audience analysis to define project needs and goals.
  • Participants will learn how to effectively plan project activities and design initiatives that encourage social participation.

Trainer’s Bio

Büşranur Tenik Özdemir holds a degree in International Relations from Ankara University and graduated from Sciences Po Lyon. She completed her master's degree in Human Rights Law at Istanbul Bilgi University, focusing on urban participation for her thesis. With nearly 9 years of experience, she has worked both as a volunteer and professionally in civil society organizations in Turkey and abroad, managing international projects. Since 2019, she has focused on strategy and business development with impact-driven initiatives and coordinated the Social Innovation Laboratory of a social entrepreneurship center. Additionally, she provides coaching for change and business development mentorship and continues to deliver workshops and training. Büşranur is also the Entrepreneurship Programs Leader at İmece and is pursuing a PhD in Political Science and International Relations at Bahçeşehir University. Accredited as a Change Management Professional by Prosci, she provides consultancy on change projects within corporate capacity development.
